The Monsters We Carry

The Monsters We Carry

"everybody carries somethin'."

The Monsters We Carry is a psychological drama about a recovering alcoholic father, Russell River, haunted by his abusive childhood.

When his daughter falls into a strange, comatose state known as The Quiet, a phenomenon that returns every spring, leaving people emotionally vacant, hes forced to face everything hes tried to bury before he risks losing her forever.

In a world terrified of stillness, the film poses the question: What if the only way to heal is to sit in it?

RUSSELL RIVER - THE LEAD

Lead casting for the feature film is currently underway.

In the feature-length film, Russells story is told through a Mirror Structure, placing scenes from his childhood directly against those from his adulthood.

We see the trauma as it begins and its aftermath decades later, showing how the wounds of the past can quietly dictate the choices of the present.

PROOF OF CONCEPT

TMWC proof of concept opens the story of Russell River as a boy, tracing the origins of the wounds he will carry into manhood and establishing the emotional foundation of the feature-length film that continues his journey. Exploring themes of generational trauma and the lasting impact of childhood experiences, the piece serves as both a directorial statement and a window into the larger story of a man reckoning with the wounds of his past.

Produced independently in Atlanta with a small dedicated crew and a working professional cast, the proof of concept was shot in just one and a half days and serves as the visual foundation for the feature currently in development.
